Work in Progress - Facets

Are these not the most joyful thing you have seen all day?

I have been working hard on these all this week; shaping, sanding, forming, faceting, texturing, riveting and soldering.

It feels like spring has sprung on my workshop bench.  Work on these little morsels of colour has been a little sanctuary in amongst a rising tide of other stuff (less beautiful stuff, and definitely more grey and black in colour).

Oh, and the backs, well, if your are frequent Hybrid Handmade-er you will know that I like my backs to be as pretty as my fronts.  It's an important detail I feel - especially if you were in a rush, wearing this pendant, and then, you arrive at your important appointment, a little flustered (as you are now a tiny bit late) and the person you are there to meet greets you by saying 'how lovely to see you, my, what a fabulous necklace!'  You look down, and see that your pendant is in fact the wrong way round (becasue you were rushing) - but this doesn't matter because it is a Hybrid Handmade pendant and....the back is as beautiful as the front.  I rest my case.

A beautiful piece of dried Cow Parsley (Anthriscus sylvestris).  I pick these seed heads in the forests local to my atelier.

Elsewhere, I have used my trademark leaf texture.  Always so beautifully stunning - I still marvel at the intricacy every time I pull this through my rolling mill.

I await and await the contrasting cords.  The first lot turned up but I was less than impressed with their thickness (one of the problems of shopping for supplies on-line) - however, more is on its way!

It is spring here and autumn elsewhere.  Don't you feel like it is the time when the world is in some kind of harmony?  A harmony of colour.

Bonne Nuit mes amis.
