A Fabulous Friday Feeling - looking up

30 March 2012, Cari-Jane Hakes
When the wind blows I love to look up at these trees.  They sway and move, bent by will and force.  Casting my gaze down, the lower trunks are solid, grounded by root and age and foundation.  I listened whilst other people explained to my boys why the trees move in this way, that if they were not pliable they would snap in the wind.  If they stood too firm, solid and unmovingly upright they would be felled by the strength of the gusting coastal gales.

My roots are bedded deep in family, faith and friendships.  The forecast is not good but I'm just going to go with it, bend a little, become a little battered but when the storm passes all I will have lost are a few dead leaves.  I'll still be upright.

Elsewhere today, I found this quote from A.A. Milne and it made me smile.  I hope it does the same for you.  A bon weekend to you all.

  1. It made me smile, and sent me on a search for words illustrating the death of Summer. Winter is dead for you, and on it's way to me...but not before I sample some of the Northern Hemisphere's Spring! Much, much love, Mrs L x
