Adornment for your ears

Now, you must know by now that I like making the odd statement piece.  I like expanding the canvas.  That said, when it comes to earrings, it is sometimes important to just keep it simple and small.  I personally don't like a lot of weight dangling from my lobes.  It hurts!  Ears are small and fragile.  Their accompanying adornments needs to take consideration of this.  Fingers, necks and wrists on the other hand are strong.  Here, the skeleton is your foundation, you can build epic proportions from this bedrock.  But ears, Oh, the ears, they are surrounded by so many other more important things.  Really, it is rare that you want your facial features to be in competition for attention with your earrings (that aside, here is one I made earlier should you in fact wish your earring to do all the talking!).

A little flock of 'Six Memos' earrings.  In this shot they are looking rather like barnacles (or lichen).  Don't they make a beautiful little family?  They are based on my reading of Italo Calvino's book Six Memos for the Next Millennium.

These earrings are based on the ring by the same name which can be seen here.  The earrings represent the universe (now, that IS a broad canvas).  The perforations are the stars - a bright north star and seven smaller holes to represent 'the plough' (or the 'big dipper' depending on where you hail from).

Exactitude earrings by Cari-Jane Hakes

These earrings are based on the ring and the necklace of the same name.  They represent a slice of time because time was the most exact thing I could think of to represent the sentiments expressed in Calvino's third lecture on Exactitude.
